Matthew 11:28 – 30
28)” Come to Me, all you
who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29) Take My yoke upon
you and learn from Me for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find
rest for your souls.
30) For My yoke is easy
and My burden is light.”
Many times as Christians, we
try to shoulder the loads we carry ourselves, instead of casting our cares (1
Peter 5:7) and allowing Jesus to do the heavy lifting. Quite often we find that not only are we
physically weary but our souls are weary and in need of rest. We have become
burdened down and overwhelmed by life’s circumstances. When we begin to experience this we need to
evaluate and question the source of our burden.
We need to compare what we are feeling with
the scripture above and see what’s really going on here.
If we are feeling overwhelmed
than obviously this burden is not from the Lord. There are several reasons for this. It could be one of our own making or one put
on us by others. At any rate, if it’s
heavy than it’s not one we should be carrying.
The scripture says, “…His yoke is easy and His burden is light.” He lightens our load by revealing to us His plan
and His purpose.
It’s a setup for us to be
victorious in Him! He reveals purpose and
destiny in our lives and then equips us to handle the tasks that lay ahead.
Which ensures peace and rest for our souls. What an awesome God! All that is
required of us is faith in His plan. I
will take that any day over the heavy yoke of living according to the world’s
standards of obligation and responsibility.
Be blessed!
