Abiding In Christ

We all want to experience true freedom?  Freedom from the bondage of slavery to sin whose wages are death?  Freedom from the lies and false accusations of the enemy that attack our minds and souls on a daily basis so as to attack our identity in Christ.   All that is required is abiding in the word.

John 8:31 and 32 says: Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed.  And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

This indicates to me that the impartation of truth is significant to my walking in freedom. Where do we find truth?  In the word of course!  This tells me that not just reading the word is enough.  We have to abide in it.  We have to dwell in it and let it dwell in us so that we can help others along the way.  We have to be intimate with it and let it change us.  It’s the changing of us that sets us free.  The disciples weren’t just followers of Jesus and His teachings.  They believed and were changed by what He taught.  They were abiders.

In essence what we’ve learned is that if we read the word and abide in it and let it abide in us we will know how to recognize the lies and accusations the devil sends our way. Not only will we recognize his tricks but we will be able to counter them with the truth of God’s word.
Being a part of a family of abiders has its benefits. John 15:7 says, “If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

So let’s not just read the word.  Let’s abide everyone and walk in true freedom and victory as God intended for us to have!

Be blessed!
